Reporting rules encoded once, applied every period, corrected in one place.

AccuracyThroughputAuditability

Financial statements were assembled by hand against accounting-standard presentation requirements. Each reporting period repeated the same work, each repetition risked a different error, and corrections were made in spreadsheets and lost by the next cycle.

We built a reporting system that produces standard-compliant statements directly from source data, with presentation and classification rules encoded as system logic rather than convention. A correction is now made to a rule once, not to a spreadsheet every quarter.

The situation

  • Financial statements were assembled manually against accounting-standard presentation requirements.
  • Each reporting period repeated the same work, and each repetition risked a different error.
  • Corrections were made in spreadsheets and lost by the next cycle.

What we built

  • A reporting system producing standard-compliant statements directly from source data.
  • Presentation and classification rules encoded as system logic rather than convention.
  • Reporting output structured so figures can be traced back to their source records.

What changed in daily operations

  • Period-end stopped consuming analyst weeks.
  • A correction is made to a rule once, not to a spreadsheet every quarter.
  • Finance staff review and explain the numbers instead of assembling them.
