Installing Python

Step 1: Download the Python 3 Installer

Go to the link given below and click on download

Step 2: Install Python

After downloading the Application double click on the file

You will See a similar screen as below

"Don't forget to select Add Python to PATH"

Step 3: Verify Installation

Go to command prompt (click on windows icon and search 'cmd') and type 'python' (without quotes) and hit enter.

If the installation was successful you would get output similar to shown in above image. It will show the python version installed.

Step 4: Python Interactive Programming

Whenever you see '>>>' this symbol it means you can writer a python statement.

After writing a statement hit enter and that statement will be executed.

To exit from python in command prompt type quit() or exit().

Step 5: Python IDLE ( Integrated Development and Learning Environment ):

The Python installer for Windows contains the IDLE module by default. IDLE can be used to execute a single statement just like Python Shell and also to create, modify and execute Python scripts. To start IDLE interactive shell, search for the IDLE icon in the start menu and double click on it.

After opening it you can you can execute Python statements same as in Python Shell as shown below.

If you want to write a python script click on 'File' and then 'New File'. In script you can write multiple lined code and then execute it and also save that file. Python files are saved as '.py' format.

Once you are done with writing the code you can either click on 'Run' or press 'F5' to execute the program. If the file is not saved it will ask you to save the file.

There are various other editors that you can use to type your program. To name few PyCharm, Selenium, Atom etc.

Step 6: Executing Saved Program File

You can either open that file in IDLE and then execute it or you can run it in command prompt.

Open cmd type python space followed by then name of the file with '.py'
